How two people who spent thirty years on the world’s worship stages ended up pastoring a room full of hungry people just north of Nashville.
The story
Thirty years on other people’s stages.
For years Carl and Leann Albrecht have been pouring their lives into music and ministry — from their early involvement at Grace World Outreach Center in St. Louis, where the worship projects of Integrity Music were birthed, to partnering with Maranatha Music in California, and later worship events for Focus On The Family, Women Of Faith, Worship International and Worship Leader Workshops.
For over three decades Carl’s drum and percussion artistry and Leann’s signature vocal sound have been heard on hundreds of recordings. If you have followed the history of modern worship music, the work of these two has been part of your experience — recording and touring with Don Moen, Paul Baloche, Ron Kenoly, Paul Wilbur, Kent Henry, the Maranatha Praise Band, Lenny LeBlanc, Paul Overstreet, Alvin Slaughter, Kim Hill, Abe Laboriel & Friends, Women Of Faith and The Promise Keepers Band, among many others.
And through all of it, they stayed plugged into their home church. Giving their artistic, teaching and leadership gifts to a local body was always part of the mandate.

2007 → now
It started because God asked for a room.
In September 2007, Carl and Leann began holding meetings in their home for the sole purpose of making space for the Lord to meet with them. They were still touring, so it happened whenever they were in town. They outgrew the living room and moved to a friend’s house. Then to a storefront near Opryland, twice a month, for another two years.
In January 2013 they felt the Lord calling them to make The Well a full-time priority and meet every week — and to do it on Tuesday evenings, which was not the typical church paradigm and was rather the point. Four years at the Scarritt-Bennett Center followed. Then the Lord opened up new territory north of the city, and new times with it: Sundays at 10:30 AM and Wednesdays at 6:00 PM.
These meetings were birthed when the Lord asked Carl and Leann to “create a space” for Him — without programmes, without agendas. What grew in it is a church where, they were told, He would raise up “giants of the faith” who would fully know who they are as sons and daughters of the Most High God.

Carl and Leann have stepped into the role of pastoring this growing church — a gathering of people who simply come hungry to meet with the living God. For them it’s an honour to host King Jesus. Even with that focus, it stays a relaxed time of fellowship with the Lord and with each other.
Some people come to hear a specific word from the Lord. Others come to worship and adore Jesus, who alone is worthy. Occasionally visitors arrive who need refuge during a storm, or somewhere to be still and know that He is God. No two meetings are the same, and all who come receive more than they imagined.
